In addition to regular Bible classes we also offer English Classes as an outreach into the community. Each week we serve more than 100 students. Since 1998 through WELS Kingdom Workers we have arranged for WELS members to come to Taichung and serve as English teachers. Betty and Norman Stellick were our ground breaking teachers for this Outreach Program. The following 2 years, Al and Chanda Schleusener taught the classes. Al is now a WELS pastor in Dousman, WI. Ron Dettmers and Ben Wiegand came the next year to continue the program. Ben stayed for a second year of service and was paired with Doug Lange. Ben married a Chinese member from our church (Samantha) and she continues to help us with translation work. Doug Lange also stayed for a second year and taught with Nathan Schulmeister. Doug is now in his second year at our WELS Seminary and Nate is teaching at St Croix Lutheran High School in St Paul, MN. In 2004 Jessie Kunz and Jill Windschitl were our Kingdom Worker teachers. Jill returned to Taiwan for another year and was joined by Kristin Lehmann from Janesville, WI. In 2006 Jill returned to the US. Kristin will be joined in 2006 by Christa Krause, a recent WLC Milwaukee graduate. Our teachers teach 6 classes a week to more than 100 students. Through these classes we have an opportunity to meet church neighbors and build relationships with them so that we might have the honor of sharing with them the good news of Jesus Christ.

Our Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ participate in the classes, making friends with others and assisting in sharing the Good News in their own language. Many members have brought friends to classes and to church.
