Mequon Meets Mexico

It’s almost time for the annual Mexico-Mequon Workshop! This annual event will take place next week in Puebla, a colonial city two hours south of Mexico City.

Each year in January, a group of students from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary visit Mexico. They head to Puebla for a few days, where they meet up with the students studying at the Mexican Lutheran Seminary.

This workshop is greatly cherished by both the Mexican and Mequon seminary students. It gives all a chance to have great Christian fellowship. They offer each other encouragement, learn about the different cultures, and play a rousing domino tournament!

While the workshop lasts only a few days, memories to last the year are made during that time.

A New Year, A New Mission

First of all, best wishes to all in 2007! God has brought us to another year of mission work here in Mexico, and has blessed us with an opportunity to begin another congregation.

Currently, steps are being taken to start a mission in Pachuca. Pachuca, a suburb of Mexico City, is a colonial city set at an elevation of almost 7,500 feet.

Two WELS Kingdom Workers arrived in Pachuca on January 8. They rented a small house near the center of town. This will be used as a place to hold English classes and eventually have church services. English classes will start in late January.

Pastor Carlos Cajas, a pastor in the Mexican Lutheran Church body, plans to move to Pachuca in the near future to help with evangelism efforts. May God be with these workers as they strive to bring the Gospel to those living in Pachuca.
