Brazil

StudentsIn Brazil, the world’s fifth-largest country, a team of two missionaries to Brazil and one LATTE member stationed in Brazil are working together with the recently established Brazilian Lutheran Church (ILB). In a country roughly the same size as the continental United States, the young Brazilian Church is served by two national pastors and a national vicar as well as by an evangelist and future seminary students. WELS missionaries in Brazil seek to encourage and help in the ILB’s work by modeling ministry and offering theological instruction for future generations of Brazilian called workers, as well as working with leaders who are taking over new responsibilities on the local and national levels of the ILB.  Currently the ILB is committed to faithfully applying God’s Means of Grace in the cities of Dourados (Mato Grosso do Sul), Gravataí (Rio Grande do Sul) and Presidente Prudente (São Paulo).
