Since 2005 Dr. John C. Lawrenz has served as president of Asia Lutheran Seminary in Hong Kong where he also teaches Old Testament and Christian doctrine.  He previously served as professor of Old Testament and Christian Education at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (2000-04), administrator of WELS ministerial education (1997-2000), vice-president for student life and Hebrew professor at Martin Luther College (1995-97), last president of Dr. Martin Luther College (1993-95), president of the WELS preparatory school Michigan Lutheran Seminary (1978-1993) and was a home mission pastor of Zion, Gainesville, FL (1973-77).  Dr. Lawrenz is a graduate of Northwestern Prep (1961), Northwestern College (B.A., 1965), Brandeis University (M.A., 1969, Ph.D. 1973), Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (M.Div., 1970) and was active in field archaeology through Tel Aviv University from 1970 to 1999.  He is married (Phoebe, 1969) and has three children (Sarah, Benjamin, and Susannah) and five grand-children.
