Rejoicing in NYC

Sunday, Sure Foundation Lutheran Church, Queens, NY,  held our first worship service in our newly renovated building, but we had an even new membersbetter reason to rejoice yesterday. The angels danced in heaven as four believers confessed their shared faith with us and also communed with us for the first time. We also maxed out the capacity of our chapel in our first worship service with well over 50 people in attendance. God continues to bless his Word as he has promised.

With our new families joining yesterday, we have to pause and thank God for growth. Not only is God having us grow in faith, but he also is blessing us numerically. As of yesterday, we now serve 60 souls and 50 communicants. At the beginning of 2008, we were at 23 communicants with 25 souls. At the end of calendar year 2008 we stood at 29 communicants with 34 souls. Now in 2009, we have nearly doubled in size with continued growth expected. Just yesterday, several people asked to begin membership classes. We also expect several baptisms in the coming months as some approached me yesterday with that in mind. These are older children and adult baptisms.

We are also pleased to share with you that we will start the first ever youth confirmation class at Sure Foundation with between 4 and 5 students right after Labor Day.

Please join us in thanking the Savior in your prayers for his continued blessing and enjoy the pics.

Congratulations. We too at St. John Lutheran Church in Victorville, Ca. have a small congregation but it is growing. Baptisms are on the rise. I wish younger people would join though. The average age of our members is 55. But I love my church and try to serve it faihfully. In Chris, Gary Wayne Shurtliff.

That’s wonderful to see! What amazing blessings out there! God has definitely been answering prayers and being faithful to His promise that His Word will not return to Him empty! God’s continued blessings in your ministries, Pastor Bourman! :)

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. It is a comfort to us at Sure Foundation that people all over the nation and world continue to pray for us and support us in so many ways.

I thank God for the blessings he has showered you with in this year and previous years. Am very happy that you are finally into the “new” chapel after all the time that has been spent in purchasing, finding funds, remodeling, and dealing with so many different challenges. Had not heard about the chapel finally being finished, but you sure must be happy about that! This is a great step forward in Christ’s kingdom as the gospel continues to bear rich fruit. Thank you, Pastor Olson and Pastor Bourman, for your faithful service and growing wisdom as you serve in the middle of all those cultures! (by the way, you should list your church under NYC…and maybe in Queens.. in the yearbook, too)

Blessings,
John
